Bruce Michael Miller: Bio

My Bio As A Song - BRUCE MICHAEL MILLER

A GUITAR AND ITS BOY

AN OLD GUITAR FOUND ITS WAY

INTO A YOUNG BOYS HANDS

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT WAS ALCHEMY

THAT MARTIN AND THE BLUE EYED BOY

MELDED INTO A MAN

THE PATH WAS NEVER EASY

HIS FAMILY LIFE WAS HARD

ALCOHOL AND LOW SELF ESTEEM

NOTHING NORMAL OR SERENE

MADE SONGS BENEATH THE SCARS

A GUITAR AND IT’S BOY

A CIRCLE

HANDS TO STRINGS

A STORY RISES AND SINGS

IT WAS FATE AND NOT A CHOICE

HOW THEY GAVE EACH OTHER VOICE

A GUITAR AND IT’S BOY

BRUCE MICHAEL MILLER

I know what you’re thinking….you’re thinking “Another bio? so what makes this guy stand out from all the other immensely talented and credentialed people that I hear about. Why should I care?”

The answer is enthusiasm!!!

After so many years in the often dog eat dog environment of the music business, Bruce still has kept the same love and passion and enthusiasm for music that he had as a child when he first heard Eric Clapton play “Steppin Out” with the great John Mayall. The same enthusiasm for a new song or recording like he had when he got his first $50 electric guitar from a local department store. “Man I loved that guitar, I would polish it every day and sleep with it at night. It was really like my first girlfriend and I loved to make her talk.”  Bruce’s childhood was surrounded by great music. “My mom was a night club singer and she would come home late. Stinking of cigarettes and complaining about having to sing show tunes like “Hello Dolly” a dozen times when she really wanted to sing jazz.  She would bring home all the new records..she loved it all..The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, Dave Brubeck, Glenn Gould..you name it and I heard it all..thanks mom. What a gift!”

Bruce still has that silly grin when he hears a great new song or band or meets a talented new writer or performer. “I just want to help these people be successful. If they make it then I get to hear them on the radio and there is nothing I love more than hearing a great song for the first time.”

Bruce has spent many years in Nashville practicing the craft of great songwriting, surrounded by the giants of the music industry, constantly inspired and constantly striving to write the best songs. He is no stranger to success having performed with legends like Paul McCartney (yes, that Paul McCartney) Kenny Loggins, Jim Messina, Gary Wright, Laura Branagan, Mark Lindsay, John Densmore (the Doors) and many others. He is a regular performer at the world famous “Bluebird Café” the premier songwriter listening room in Nashville and has also graced the stages of many other popular venues while wearing his singer/songwriter hat. He’s had songs recorded by country artist Steve Holy, Blues Legend Miranda Louise, Indie artists like Nancy Terzian, Lisa Nemzo

Bruce spent many years in Los Angeles, playing sessions as a guitarist. “I did a beer commercial once with Joe Sample, Abraham Laboriel and Harvey Mason. It was freaky..I was playing for Budweiser with the greatest jazz and pop musicians on the planet. That was so cool.” He also paid his dues touring for several years with pop diva Laura Branagan. That was a seminal experience for Miller and he got to travel the world….from South Africa to Taiwan China. “It was such a great experience bringing music to all of these interesting places and I learned so much from working with Laura. She was the best performer I ever saw..she just loved her audiences so much. I really became aware of what “Star Quality” was by watching Laura perform,” says Miller. In addition Bruce performed with many original and cover bands.
