Listen to what people are saying about Bruce and his debut CD 'Already Somebody"

"A great song is a wedding between the melody and the lyric. Bruce Michael Miller's 'Already Somebody' is a perfect marriage." John Densmore (drummer for The Doors)

Review for "60 second CD" by Michael Settle

String wizard Bruce Michael Miller's debut CD, "Already Somebody" is an apt title for the former lead guitarist for Laura Branigan. Miller wrote or co-wrote all of the songs, and his lyrics hover over the precipice of heartache like a high wire act that sees the abyss, but never falls in. Miller's velvety voice has a kind of Dan Folgelberg/David Gates quality that pulls you in with quiet, restrained intensity. Bruce Michael Miller makes a potent emotional connection on his new CD, "Already Somebody" and keeps that connection open 'til the final note fades away.

Parts of a review for theinfoline, an online music magazine by Harriet Schock

When I first listen to a record, I usually listen for melody. The second time, I listen for lyrics. Then I listen for enjoyment. If the melody and lyrics aren't there, I never get to the enjoyment. This CD is truly enjoyable, whether you're listening to it carefully or have it in the background. It has that wonderful feel of Eagles meet Dan Fogelberg. It isn't whining or self-conscious or pretentious. It is wise and full of heart, like the artist, himself. Bruce Michael Miller lives the life of an artist who takes responsibility for his life and art. His wife, Patricia Alice Albrecht, is an excellent poet and a writer with lots of published work. His son, Forest, is on the cover of "Already Somebody," suggesting that if Bruce does nothing else but be the father of this exceptional child, he's already somebody. But from the way this CD is affecting people and the reception it's getting, I suspect Bruce Michael Miller will broaden the interpretation of the title cut beyond that of fatherhood.

Review by David Langer (for submission)

With irony, cynicism and attitude now less valuable currency in the American experience, it's time, once again, for a return to the heart, a return to caring, to the realness of love.
Bruce Michael Millerıs exquisitely crafted and open-heartedly performed songs express an innocence usually lost behind walls of hurt and defense. They touch deeply into the stories, memories and moments that were, and are, the most poignant and meaningful in our lives: the long-awaited debut performance ('Making Up For Lost Dreams'), first love ('Summer of Love'), the mystical beckoning, and longing, for a "calling," ('Something Wild'), a father's profound connection with his young son ('New Kid').
Gently cast with contemporary Americana instrumentation and textures, and featuring some of the best musicians in Nashville where Miller now resides, Already Somebody pays equal homage to the 70s, the golden years of singer-songwriters (think James Taylor). Like a good novel, it sneaks up on you, working its way into your heart the longer you listen Full of genuine feeling, itıs music thatıs hard to pigeonhole in today's narrowly defined categories. Romantic and disarmingly real, Already Somebody is just plain good. Good for your heart and soul .

Review by Charles Bernstein (Emmy award winning film and TV composer)

How can you best give your heart and soul to someone? Aside from marrying them and living with them, perhaps the best thing you can do is present your essence in a CD like "Already Somebody," by Bruce Michael Miller. This collection of songs is pure heart and soul material. Deeply felt stuff. A group of songs about what it means to be alive, to feel pain and joy, to celebrate the whole dazzling spectrum. It reminds me how valuable, and challenging it can be, to create an entire album, and not simply a few good songs. This CD is a coherent statement of love and living from beginning to end. Each song stands alone and manages to add context and power to the others. This is not easy to do. I have been in the music making business all of my life, and the miracle of a well made song never ceases to amaze me. This CD is a string of miracles. Bruce Michael Miller is a very special guy. A miracle maker and lover of life. This is his gift to us. The only feeling I can identify after listening again to this beautiful material is gratitude.
